Today, during the annual Honor Awards event held by AIA York State, SA principal Andre Soluri, was awarded a 2021 Presidential Citation for his efforts helping others during the Pandemic through the “AIA New York Unified Task Force City and State”. The honor was bestowed upon Andre and the other Taskforce members during an online Zoom ceremony by the 2021 AIA New York State president Illya Azaroff, FAIA.
Through the Taskforce, Andre helped to co-found the award-winning Design Corps which is a platform for the New York architecture & design community to come together and help restaurants struggling to survive the pandemic by offering pro-bono design services for outdoor dining.
Also through the Taskforce, Andre led a team of Taskforce members who focused on helping small business owners reopen their office based businesses. The team partnered with AIANY and the NY Department of Small Business Services (SBS) to produce a series of free webinars that ultimatley trained several hundred small business owners and architects on best practices for reopening and the transition towards the future of workplaces.
