Soluri Architecture Receives 2021 “Best in Business” Award from INC. Magazine

December 7, 2021

We’re thrilled to announce that Soluri Architecture has received an Honorable Mention in the 2021 “Best in Business” Awards from INC. Magazine and named of the 196 “Most Inspiring Companies of the Year”

The Best in Business Awards recognize “the most inspiring and innovative companies of the year” that are “smart, strategic leaders in their industries” that also “..have heart – and they’re pouring it into the people and communities around them.” The magazine selects “…companies companies proving that what matters isn’t only what you do in business, but also how you do it.”

For us, the pandemic has been an inflection-point in our 16-year firm history – a call-to-arms where advocacy, action and thought-leadership have emerged, emboldening us to tackle challenges beyond the traditional realm of architecture to help our community, industry, and society. Our submission to this award focused on our efforts to help small businesses survive the pandemic. This included:

  • Co-founding the award-winning Design Corps, which is a platform for the New York architecture & design community to come together and help restaurants struggling to survive the pandemic by offering pro-bono design services for outdoor dining. To date over 70 architects have volunteered their time to help 90 restaurants design their outdoor dining.
  • Leading a team of AIA Taskforce members to help small business owners reopen their office based businesses. The team partnered with AIANY and the NY Department of Small Business Services (SBS) to produce a series of free webinars that ultimately trained several hundred small business owners and architects on best practices for reopening and the transition towards the future of hybrid & distributed workplaces.
  • Advocacy on behalf of small businesses for funding and resources to help them survive the pandemic. This included speaking to members of the US Congress, US Senate, NYS Senate, NYS Assembly and NYC Council.
