Project Categories

Soluri Architecture works within a wide range of product categories because it is a design focused practice. Clients typically some to us seeking a unique vision of their project that will differentiate themselves from others and/or express their unique qualities & characteristics. Our design methodology where we analyze the issues at hand is the foundation for our ability to generate unique and striking design that is customized and responsive to our clients needs regardless of the project’s type, size, budget or category.

Below is a list of the the various categories that Soluri Architecture has worked in, along with a summary of how we approach the particularities of each category:

Office : Corporate & Tech

Soluri Architecture’s design methodology is particularly suited to responding to the needs of companies that operate in a unique manner, are disruptive, or are seeking to differentiate themselves from competitors. As a result, the firm has completed a number of office projects for technology & start-up companies as well as project for companies that are transforming and/or re-branding themselves.

The reason our design methodology works so well in these types of projects is because nothing is taken for granted and the analysis phase seeks to understand the unique characteristics of each company at the micro and macro levels. This analysis attempts to tie together operations and work-flows with bigger picture goal and issues that define an organization. The results of this analysis produce a series of diagrams similar to flow-charts that act as the non-formal  framework for the project that the design and layouts are based on. This process works particularly well in new and disruptive businesses where there is no “standard”, and creates a unique and thorough understanding of the company, guiding the entire design process regardless of size, scope or budget. Examples of office projects include:

Birchbox – A 28,000gsf expansion of their current office space in NYC for upto 200 new employees as this disruptive “discovery retail” company continues to grow explosively. The project includes formal and informal meeting rooms, breakout rooms, phone-booths, lounges, various types of working spaces, etc.

RAB Lighting HQ Renovation – This complex, multi-phase renovation of RAB lighting’s headquarters in Northvale, NJ is part of RAB’s growth and transformation into a technology innovator of interior and exterior LED fixtures and systems.

Located in NYC’s Soho neighborhood, the project embraces the funky characteristics of the neighborhood while providing the space and facilities needed.

University Building – A new 43,000 sq ft office building in University Place, WA, that was designed to accommodate an extension office for Washington State University.

Soluri Architecture has completed 60 residential projects over 10 years mostly in New York City, making the firm an expert in residential projects. Projects have ranged from small to large high-end renovations, new boutique condo buildings, and even  master-plans for large residential developments. One of the distinguishing aspects of how the firm approaches residential projects is that we carefully listen to our client’s needs and requests and respond to them accordingly. While there is no defined “style” that the firm operates within, projects tend to be simple and elegant with warm materials and significant attention to lighting design. Commercial, Retail & Hospitality

Design and built environment are one of the best ways to distinguish a commercial, retail or hospitality project from its competitors. This is accomplished by creating a sense of place that is unique by carefully crafting and integrating the space, materials and lighting with the overall concept. Soluri Architecture has worked on a number of projects in the commercial, retail or hospitality categories including several showrooms, the concept design for a new hotel in Ankarra, Turkey, several retail centers in Washington State, as well as design for a bar, restaurant and cafe. The firm has had significant involvement in the large retail oriented town center redevelopment in University Place, WA which is currently under construction and was mentioned as a case-study in the “Urban Retail” book by retail guru Bob Gibbs. The firm was also involved in early phase concept design for a town center redevelopment in Niagara Falls, Canada. Completed projects benefit from their unique and distinct designs which distinguish them from their competitors. These design are based on a careful understanding and analysis of the client’s needs based on our design methodology as well as understanding who the projects are seeking to appeal to. Medical & Spa

services---categories--Medical-&-Spa-banner-trimWe believe its vitally important that medical facilities create serene, welcoming and safe environments. Soluri Architecture’s first medical project, Sensident, was awarded to the firm  because the client wanted something completely different, and precisely because we had never done a medical facility before. The first project was so successful, a larger second  facility was commissioned. All of the technical requirements for a modern medical facility need not limit the creativity of design…we believe they can enhance it.

Spa facilities need to be places of tranquility that transport one away from the stresses of everyday life….particularly when located in a large city. Soluri Architecture has completed several full service spa facilities in NYC, and one of the key design considerations has been the transition from the street to the spa. The selection of materials and lighting is a key aspect to the design, as is the separation and flow of spaces.

Examples of medical & spa facilities include:

Sensident: Prevention & Beauty – A 633sq ft dental-spa in upper Manhattan

Madison Avenue Spa – A full service 3,000 sq ft spa located in midtown Manhattan

Dr Park Avenue – An out-patient cosmetic medical practice in Hoboken, NJ

Eden Day Spa – A full-service street-level spa located in NYC’s Tribeca neighborhood.
