The Vidro by Soluri Architecture is a finalist in Fact Company's Innovation by Design Awards

The Vidro is an Honoree & Finalist in Fast Company’s 2020 “Innovation by Design Awards”

September 30, 2020

Soluri Architecture was honored in Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Awards for 2020 in the “Spaces and Places” category for The Vidro and included in the magazine’s list of “The most innovative architecture projects of 2020” which recognize people, teams, and companies solving problems through design.

One of the most sought-after design awards in the industry, Innovation by Design is the only competition to honor creative work at the intersection of design, business, and innovation.

Located in Harlem, NYC, The Vidro is a new six-unit residential building highlighting the potential of new buildings on small urban infill sites to help address NYC’s housing crisis.  Research by Soluri Architecture reveals that 59% of all remaining vacant NYC residential land is small – less than 2,600sf and 26ft wide. If these 12,500 small lots were all developed, they could yield over 75,000 new housing units – many of which could be affordable. The Vidro presents a unique design-based solution to the technical and economic challenges of building on small lots, showing how these challenging places can become viable for sustainable, community-oriented development.
